Introduction
Shinjuku Sanchome continues to welcome new dining spots. In this article, we visit SPONTINI Shinjuku, the second Japanese location of the long-established Milan pizzeria, and review its interior, menu, and signature Margherita pizzas.

SPONTINI Shinjuku: A Long-Established Milan Pizzeria Arrives in Shinjuku

SPONTINI was founded in Milan in 1953 and is known for its thick, square slices of pizza.
The Shinjuku location opened on April 26, 2025, as the brand’s second store in Japan, following the Harajuku branch.
The shop is located on the first floor of the newly opened Okadaya Building, just off Moa 2nd Street near Shinjuku Station’s East Exit.
Note that the entrance faces the back street, opposite the main Okadaya entrance.
This visit took place on a weekday evening shortly after 7:00 PM.
Interior and Menu at SPONTINI Shinjuku

The interior offers around 23 seats in total, including table and counter seating.
At around 7:00 PM, the shop was nearly full. The crowd skewed younger, likely due to its proximity to Shinjuku Station’s East Exit.
The menu focuses on classic Margherita pizzas with a wide range of toppings, alongside side dishes such as fries and chicken nuggets, as well as alcoholic beverages.
Selected menu items:
Classic Pizzas
- Margherita Normale – ¥850
- Margherita Abbondante – ¥1,100
- Margherita Double Mozzarella – ¥1,100
- Margherita Double Mozzarella Abbondante – ¥1,400
Toppings
- Sausage – ¥400
- Pancetta – ¥300
- Salami – ¥250
- Arugula – ¥700
- Extra Cheese (Normale) – ¥250
There is only one touchscreen ordering terminal, so deciding on your order in advance may help speed things up.
Tasting the Pizzas: Margherita Normale and Abbondante

During this visit, two pizzas and draft beer were ordered.
Margherita Normale with Sausage (limited-time free topping) and Asparagus
The pizza was larger than expected, topped with a large sausage and three pieces of asparagus.
With a dough thickness of about 3 cm, the pizza is pre-cut for easier eating.
Rather than a traditional Italian-style pizza, the texture is closer to American pizza, with a focaccia-like crust.

Margherita Abbondante with Prosciutto and Arugula
“Abbondante,” meaning extra-large, offers about 1.5 times the standard portion.
The pizza is rich and oily with a distinctly indulgent feel, but the addition of arugula adds a lighter balance.
If the portion is too large to finish on-site, takeaway is available.
Final Thoughts

SPONTINI Shinjuku aims for a casual, stand-and-eat style, but in practice, factors such as a single ordering terminal, longer preparation times, and limited floor staff made it feel less quick than expected.
That said, the pizzas are substantial in size, making them ideal for customizing with multiple toppings.
