    Intro

Hello, I’m GOK, the editor of Shinjuku local media “Daily Shinjuku.”

This time, I visited Brooklyn Parlor, a cafe restaurant in Shinjuku-3chome, and I’m sharing what it’s like—its atmosphere, menu, and the American-style burger and beers we tried.

Brooklyn Parlor is a cafe restaurant produced by Blue Note Japan, built around the concept of “elegant, unnecessary things in life.”

The restaurant is located on B1F of Shinjuku Marui Annex. I visited for the first time on a weekday after 8 p.m.

    Interior and Menu

Inside, the space has a brick-walled, diner-like atmosphere that feels like New York.

It’s not just about food and drinks: the venue also features a live stage, sells records, and displays and sells more than 2,500 books—and you can bring a book to your seat to read while you’re there.

There are around 150 seats, including both table and counter seating. It works well for larger group reservations, and I also saw many people dining solo.

Here are some selected items from the menu:

    • French fries: 968 yen
    • Avocado fritters: 1,045 yen
    • Vegetable & fruit pickles: 770 yen
    • Fish & chips: 1,650 yen
    • Hamburger: 1,980 yen
    • Gouda cheese & jalapeño burger: 2,530 yen
    • Margherita pizza: 2,200 yen
    • Japanese roast chicken: 3,080 yen
    • U.S. beef hanger steak (BBQ), 200g: 3,960 yen

For drinks, they offer a wide variety including craft beers such as Brooklyn Session IPA and Brooklyn Lager, as well as highballs, lemon sours, wine, and more.

What We Ordered: Craft Beer, Crab Balls, and a Burger

Here’s what we ordered at Brooklyn Parlor.

Brooklyn Session IPA & Brooklyn Lager

We started with a toast using regular-size Brooklyn Session IPA (968 yen) and Brooklyn Lager (1,023 yen).

Craft beer while listening to quality music feels especially enjoyable in a place like this.

    Crab Ball (Tomato Salsa)

For a snack, we ordered the Crab Ball (Tomato Salsa) (880 yen).

It was shaped like an Italian arancini, with tomato salsa laid underneath as the sauce. The inside wasn’t rice—it was filled with crab meat.

    Hamburger + French Fries Set

Next, we ordered the simple Hamburger (1,980 yen) with a French fries set (+440 yen).

The fries were thin and crispy, served with ketchup and mustard on the side.

The burger included a patty, lettuce, tomato, and onion, and it came with two sauces: aurora sauce and BBQ sauce.

It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the patty is satisfyingly meaty and the overall portion—along with the vegetables—feels substantial and filling.

We also ordered other beers: Budweiser (825 yen) and Hoegaarden White (880 yen).

Overall, it was a great American-style burger that pairs perfectly with craft beer.
