Hello everyone, this is GOK from the Shinjuku local media platform Daily Shinjuku.
Today, I visited GoFukuken Shinjuku West, a ramen shop located in the competitive Shinjuku West area.
GoFukuken Shinjuku West Opens on the Former Site of Tenkaippin Shinjuku West

GoFukuken Shinjuku West is a Tokyo-style black soy sauce backfat ramen shop that opened on July 16, 2025.
With the concept of offering “a blissful bowl you’ll want to eat every day,” the shop serves ramen and fried rice.
It became a topic of conversation for opening on the former site of Tenkaippin Shinjuku West, though Tenkaippin has since relocated a few doors down.
This time, I visited GoFukuken after 7 pm on a weekday.

Orders are placed through a QR code system.

Gyoza Fried Rice Set & Kakuni Ramen
Gyoza Fried Rice Set – 1,290 yen

I ordered the classic set: backfat soy sauce ramen, fried rice, and gyoza.
The ramen soup—deep-colored soy sauce reminiscent of Kyoto-style ramen—includes backfat. Despite its appearance, the flavor is milder than expected.
The noodles are straight and thin, with adjustable firmness.
Toppings include tender char siu, plenty of green onions, and slender bamboo shoots.
The gyoza are small but well-seasoned, tasty even without dipping sauce.
The deep-colored fried rice, like the ramen, looks intense but has a gentle flavor. It is a moist style rather than a dry, “fluffy” type, pairing well with the ramen.
Kakuni Ramen – 1,280 yen

I also tried the limited-time Kakuni Ramen, available through November 30.
As the name suggests, it features a thick piece of kakuni (braised pork belly) and a raw egg.
The kakuni was soft enough to break apart with chopsticks, well-seasoned, and delicious.
With regular char siu and bamboo shoots included, this was a very filling bowl. Mixing in the raw egg kept the flavor interesting until the end.
Final Thoughts
This time, I introduced GoFukuken Shinjuku West.
The water pitchers included sliced lemon, showing attention to small details.
The shop frequently offers limited-time promotions such as drink discounts and half-price gyoza, which adds to the appeal.
Next time, I would like to enjoy some drinks and try more of the side dishes.
If you are in the area, definitely stop by.
See you again.
