Introduction
Hello, this is GOK from Daily Shinjuku.
Today, I visited “Cafe & Meal MUJI Shinjuku”, located just 176 meters from Shinjuku 3-Chome Station. Operated by MUJI, the café focuses on “Simple Food” — meals and desserts made without chemical seasonings or preservatives.

Cafe & Meal MUJI Shinjuku — Renewed in 2019

Located on the basement floor of Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema, Cafe & Meal MUJI Shinjuku reopened after renovation on July 27, 2019.
With its concept of “natural, wholesome food that’s kind to both the body and the planet,” the café encourages visitors to enjoy meals in a relaxed, minimalist space.
MUJI operates over 30 Café & Meal locations nationwide, including 11 in Tokyo, from Hokkaido to Kumamoto.
A Bright, Spacious Interior

The café has 96 seats, creating a bright and open environment that doesn’t feel underground.
The high ceiling and glass chandeliers give the space a refined, contemporary touch.
On weekday evenings, the café was nearly full but tables turned over quickly. Customers ranged from students and professionals to families, with some working quietly on laptops.

What I Ordered
Baked Pudding with Honwaka Sugar – ¥400

This is MUJI’s most popular dessert.
Made simply with eggs, milk, and Okinawan cane sugar, it has a firm yet silky texture.
The sweetness of the caramel is perfectly balanced, offering a nostalgic, homemade flavor. Each pudding is handmade daily.
Iced Coffee (Set Drink) – ¥200

The drink set features a paper straw and generous serving size, ideal for pairing with dessert.
Coffee Jelly Parfait – ¥450

A simple yet elegant parfait featuring Jersey milk soft serve from Mori no Bokujou Farm.
The rich ice cream is topped with crushed coffee beans for aroma, while the bitter coffee jelly underneath creates a refined adult flavor.
Enjoying a cold dessert in a warm café felt especially comforting in winter.
Summary

Cafe & Meal MUJI Shinjuku offers an unexpectedly relaxing environment despite its popularity.
It’s a convenient stop for those watching a film at Shinjuku Piccadilly or seeking a quiet place to unwind.
Next time, I plan to try one of their wholesome “Simple Food” lunch plates.
If you’re near Shinjuku 3-Chome, it’s well worth a visit.
