    Introduction:
Hidden in the neon-lit streets of Kabukicho, Motsuyaki Kamiya is a retro-style red lantern izakaya specializing in grilled offal skewers.

Originally founded in Ningyocho, the shop now has branches in Shinjuku, Shinbashi, and Ueno.

Known for its incredibly cheap skewers starting at ¥70, this “senbero” (drink-and-snack-for-¥1,000) spot is popular among locals and tourists alike.

Located near Kabukicho Sakura Street, the restaurant has around 35 seats including counters, tables, and tatami-style seating.

The atmosphere is lively, reminiscent of Showa-era Tokyo, and on our visit, nearly half the customers were foreign tourists.

    What We Tried

    • Gatsu Sashi (¥350)
Pork stomach slices topped with scallions and ponzu soy sauce. Fresh, crunchy, and without any gamey flavor.
    • Garlic-Seared Liver (¥700)
A must-try. Lightly charred outside and rare inside, served with garlic, scallions, and sesame oil. Rich, tender, and full of flavor.
    • Motsuyaki Skewers (Salt & Sauce, ¥70 each / ¥350 for 5)
Small but juicy skewers. The salt version highlights the sweetness of onions, while the sauce version has a sweet-savory glaze that pairs perfectly with a sprinkle of chili powder.
